Marianne's Home

A home belonging to the Resident representative known as Marianne, erroneously "Mary" at times. It's likely this is the first actual home players may stumble across, and as such is where a majority of the founding themes of the island seen in later homes are initially constructed.

Design

Marianne's home is primarily comprised of furniture sets like the Imperial, Elegant, and Antique sets. The most notable aspect is the preference to the color red, as seen in furniture like the Chandeliers, Large Paradise Planning rug, and Portable record players.

An exception to this is the bathroom, comprised of furniture from the Golden series and features mostly black and white compared to the heavy amount of red seen in the other parts of her home.

Another exception is the basement, comprised of mostly metallic furniture with occasional splashes of red like with the SLR camera, espresso maker, and Microwave.

History

Marianne's home (or rather, the character that would become Marianne) was the first player home constructed in Lunarvale. Initially taking more of a hardcore retro Soviet-era design, it was eventually dropped entirely when the second revision of Lunarvale started, introducing Marianne. Unfortunately, records were not kept properly, so images of the initial versions of Lunarvale before its public unveilings are lost to time.

The second revision of Marianne's home opted for a more traditional interior, using exclusively the Retro series. Things like the Retro TV, Antique series, and the Rotary Phone would make welcome here. This design stayed for at least two revisions, before being overhauled once again and turning into the design that would later be seen in the final release.

Through the third to seventh revisions, minor adjustments would be made like making the kitchen use exclusively metallic furniture, adjusting the bathroom to use exclusively black and white-colored furniture, and replacing the bedroom half on the second floor with a library/study area. Keep in mind some areas are still in construction, however. Pay no mind to the cones near the bookshelves.

Trivia

  • Marianne's house is the most-redesigned home, having gone through seven different iterations throughout Lunarvale's development.
  • The second floor is the most-redesigned room, having gone through four renditions. Being a: bedroom, greenhouse, bedroom/office, and finally library/office.
  • When not having a meeting with one of the other villagers, Marianne spends her time at the surveillance center in her basement for any potential infractions. However, lately she's become so obsessed with surveillance that she's begun to fall asleep at her desk...
  • Marianne tends to avoid the bathroom, or specifically mirrors, as much as possible. Rumors state she'll start to have arguments with herself if left to her own devices.
  • In earlier versions of Lunarvale's story, Marianne's home was originally where Hilda's home would later be created. With the island becoming more exploration-based, it made little sense for the main home to be accessible at the very end of the game.
